From non EU/EES country
Doctors trained outside the EU / EEA
For doctors with a medical degree obtained in a country outside the EU/EEA complementary training is required to get a Swedish license to practice and a proof of specialty training. The Swedish National Board of Health and Welfare is the competent authority that assesses your academic and clinical background. The board uses the following application form for reviewing foreign medical education as the basis for a Swedish medical license.
If you want to work in Sweden and come from a country that is not a part of the EU, you must have a work permit. If you plan to work in Sweden for longer than three months you will also need a residence permit. It is the Migration Board who handles the applications from people wishing to visit or settle in Sweden.
The Swedish Medical Association has published a folder titled "Physicians educated in countries outside the EU/EEA - Training and Labour Market in Sweden".
